source for citations to journal articles and non-journal literature on all
aspects of education.
Searching ERIC:
- University Library's homepage
http://library.csustan.edu/
- Click Journal Articles and Databases, then click Education.
- Click on ERIC (through FirstSearch).
- Try starting with a keyword search.
- If you are
unsure of the correct terminology to represent the concepts in your search,
browse the online thesaurus by clicking on Subjects.
- Use and to connect concepts (for example, gender and
academic achievement). Both concepts will be present in your results.
- When you limit to journal articles, also limit to subscriptions held by
my library to find articles from journals subscribed by the University
Library.
- Limit to Peer Reviewed for journal articles validated by
scholars in the field.
- You may display the results ranked by Date or
Relevance.
- Browse through the results and look at the descriptors to get ideas for other search terms.
Finding Articles:
- Click
to see if the article is available in
full-text online.
- You may obtain articles from journals that the library does not subscribe by submitting an
online Interlibrary Loan Form. Click on Interlibrary Loan under
Services on the library's homepage.
Finding Documents:
- When you limit to documents, also limit to full text.
- Many of the ERIC documents from 1993-present are now
available online as PDF files.
- To retrieve the full text of ERIC documents online, click on the Access ERIC Full Text
link under the document title on the results list, or click
on the detailed record to retrieve the full
text of the document online.
- Documents from 1966-present that are not available online may be
available on microfiche in the ERIC file cabinets in the reference section.
Use the accession number (ED plus six digits) to locate the microfiche.
- Bring the microfiche to the Circulation Desk for assistance with the
reader/printer machine.
- You may obtain documents that not owned in
the library by submitting an
online Interlibrary Loan Form. Click on Interlibrary Loan under
Services on the library's homepage. Use the book request form.

- When you click on the name of the database from off-campus, enter
your CSUStan
e-mail ID before the @ sign and your password.
ProQuest Dissertations: Humanities and Social Sciences
- Contains the full text of over one million theses or dissertations in
the subject areas of Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Click Journal Articles and Databases, then click Theses or
Dissertations.
- Click ProQuest Dissertations.
- Search by the author, title, or the subject of the thesis or
dissertation.
- Retrieve an abstract (summary), a 24 page preview, or a PDF file
containing the full text of the thesis or dissertation.
- Click Full Text-PDF to read or save a copy of the complete dissertation
to your desktop or flash drive.
- E-mail a summary and a link to the full text of the thesis or
dissertation.
- You may obtain a thesis or dissertation not available in full text
through
Interlibrary Loan from the University Library's homepage. Use the book
request form.

Three Steps to Find Books
Library Catalog
(Step 1)
- University Library's homepage
http://library.csustan.edu/
- Under Find Books, click Library Catalog.
- Search for books, videos, theses, etc. owned by CSU Stanislaus Library.
- Search by keyword, subject, title, or author (last name, first).
- Use if you are unable to find what you need in the Library Catalog.
- University Library's homepage

- Under Find Books, click on Link+, or click on Repeat
Search in
in the library catalog.
- Search for books owned by libraries in California and Nevada.
- Click on
the title of the book to access the online request link.
- Use the arrow for the drop-down menu to select CSU Stanislaus.
- Enter your name, your 9 digit campus
ID number (begins 00...), and select Turlock as the pickup location.
- Books will be delivered to Turlock in three working days and held for
you at the University Library circulation desk.
- You will be notified in your campus e-mail when the books are available
to be picked up.
- Use if you are unable to find what you need in the Library Catalog
or Link+.
