A Brief Guide for CSUS Stockton Center Students

Journal Articles

1. Information Needed from the Citation
Title of Journal
Date and/or volume/issue containing desired article
(See Finding Articles page for information on identifying citations to articles on a specific topic.)

2. Electronic Journals List: Journals Available Online
Go to the Electronic Journals page
From the alphabetical list at the top, choose the first letter of the name of the journal.
Scroll through the alphabetical list of journal titles to see if desired journal is present.
If desired journal is listed, compare the dates available online to the date of the desired article.
If the online availability covers the desired article, access the database to search for and display the article.

3. The Library Catalog: Paper Copies of Journals in Turlock and Select Online Journals
Go to the Library Catalog page and click <start> button.
Choose Periodicals and newspapers from the Main Menu.
Search for the title of the journal (not the title of the article!).
If the desired journal is listed, display the full record.
Check for an Electronic Resources link at or near the bottom to see if journal is available online.
Check the Library Holdings or Electronic Resources list at the bottom to see if library holds date or volume of desired article.
If library has paper copy in Main Library, submit Periodicals Article Request Form.

4. If Not Available at CSU Stanislaus Library
Submit Interlibrary Loan article form to request a copy of an article be sent from another library.
Please contact the Stockton Library Access Center (467-5410) or the Main Library (667-3233) for help.

Books and Other Materials

The CSUS Library Catalog
Go to the Library Catalog page and click <start> button.
Find and display full record of desired material.
Check the location and status.
If desired material is available to be sent to Stockton, submit Book Request Form.

If Not Available at CSU Stanislaus Library
Submit Interlibrary Loan book form to request the library borrow a copy of the desired work from another library.

CTU STKN Res Stockton Reserves Materials placed on reserve for a class, usually for the current term only.
CTU MAIN General bookstacks in Turlock In Library: available in Stockton in 1-2 business days
DUE or Missing will take longer
CTU MAIN Ref Turlock Reference collection Check with a librarian about possible availability in Stockton
CTU MAIN Res Turlock Reserves On reserve for a class in Turlock
Not available to be sent to Stockton
CTU MAIN Case Turlock Case Room May be used in Turlock Library only
Not available to be sent to Stockton
