The Library Access Center is designed to serve the research needs of students, faculty and staff at CSU Stanislaus–Stockton. In addition to a select collection and reference assistance available on site, the Library provides patrons with access to the resources available at the main campus in Turlock through document delivery, courier service, and online access.
Reference Librarians are available by telephone, electronic mail, and by appointment to provide research assistance and answer any questions about library materials or services. Please see the list of Reference Hours and Options available on the website. Research Guides: Class and Subject Pages CSU Stanislaus Librarians have compiled online guides to help students access research materials available through the library. Please see the list of Library Homepage for general guides as well as pages written for specific courses. Library Catalog, the catalog of materials available through the CSU Stanislaus Library, is available via the library's home page. The option for the CSU Stanislaus-Stockton Collection includes the print collection housed in Stockton as well the electronic journals and books that are part of the library's permanent collection. Searching the options of "All Library Materials"s includes the items housed in the Turlock Library. Library users may request materials available in Turlock for delivery to Stockton. Students may also identify materials available in other local libraries through the list of Library Catalogs Useful to Stockton Center Students available on the website. The CSU Stanislaus Library provides access to online databases that identify key research publications in all academic subjects taught by the University. See the website for a list of Research Databases available. (Note: The barcode number from a current CSU Stanislaus ID card is required to access these databases from off-campus.) CSU Stanislaus-Stockton students have access to library materials through a variety of methods. The library provides access to thousands of research journals and books via the World Wide Web. Items available in the Main Library's collection can be retrieved from Turlock and delivered to Stockton. Titles not available online or in Turlock may be requested from another library via Interlibrary Loan. CSU Stanislaus students may also borrow books directly from a number of other college libraries including San Joaquin Delta College, Modesto Junior College, CSU Sacramento, and CSU Hayward. The CSU Stanislaus Library provides online access to articles from thousands of research journals and books. Three different sources (SFX function in a research database, the electronic books and journals section of Library Catalog, and the library's Electronic Journals page) all provide access to some of the online materials purchased by the CSU Stanislaus Library.
Request Materials Available in Turlock Materials that are not available online but are available in Turlock may be retrieved from the Main Library. If available in Turlock, materials are usually ready for pick-up in Stockton 1-2 business days after an online request has been submitted. (Online request form available through the library's website.) Request Materials Available from Other Libraries Materials may requested via Interlibrary Loan if they are not owned by the CSU Stanislaus Library (e.g. neither available online nor in Turlock). The online request section of the website includes an option for such materials. Instructors may place course readings on reserve in the library. The Library Reserves option in Library Catalog list materials by class and professor. (Note: The system includes reserve materials for both the Turlock and the Stockton campuses. The Stockton sections are denoted by STKN in the reserve record itself.) Two photocopiers are available for general use in the Library Access Center. Copies are 10 cents each, and change is available in the library. Individual study carrels and group study tables are available in the Library Access Center. Discussion groups are encouraged to meet in the lounge in the library foyer. The Library Access Center houses several computer workstations that provide access to online library databases, electronic journals/books, and the World Wide Web. (Note: Please see the Information Technology page for availablity of equipment in the comptuer lab.) The Library Access Center houses for audio-visual stations for viewing of video tapes and listening to audio CDs. Workstations for the Visually Impaired Equipment available in the Library Access Center includes ZoomText screen enhancer, Jaws screen reader, a CCTV print enhancer, and a Kurzweil print scanning system.
