Poetry Chapbooks of the 1960's (April, 2008) For National Poetry month, Special Collections has on display in the West Reading Room works from the 1960s (considered a time of renaissance for poetry) that utilized an old format: chapbooks. Chapbooks are a genre of pocket-size booklets, many of which are bound with paper covers and contain few pages. These books, whose origins date back to the 16th century, had a resurgence of popularity in the 1960's among poets.
