Who can use the licensed databases? (Restrictions)

Why the restriction?

Most of the database vendors the CSU Stanislaus Library has contracted with require that the Library restrict access to faculty, staff and currently enrolled students.

Accessing restricted resources from off campus

If you are a CSUS faculty member, staff member or currently enrolled student, you can access these databases from a computer even when you're off campus by clicking on the appropriate link and following the instructions that are presented.

As of Fall Semester 2001, the Library is using EZProxy for remote authentication of users.  If you are off campus and you have not previously configured your computer's Web browser to use the Library's proxy server, no set up or configuration  is required to use resources remotely.  You will be prompted to enter your CSUS (Library) ID card number and your last name when you attempt to access a licensed database.

Faculty, staff and currently enrolled students who have previously configured their Web browser to use the Library's proxy server (something you would have done prior to September 1, 2001) can continue to utilize the Library's proxy server to access the restricted WWW resources.  CSUS students and faculty using the older proxy server will continue to input their ID card number and the first four letters of their last name, as prompted by the proxy server.
